When I say pain in the neck, I mean literally.  Lately, I have been waking up with neck aches which I never have had before.  Come to find out our pillows aren’t always are best friend at night.  Pillows can become old and not as effective of support on our head and necks.  This may also contribute to sudden headaches that you may feel in the early morning hours.

Help...My Skin Looks Like A Road Map

  • Nov. 21st, 2008 at 4:42 PM

Okay ladies, we all have experienced dry and chapped skin at least one point in our lives.  I have oily skin and I still experience it from time to time, mainly in the winter cold months.  My hands and feet are what get it the worst.

There have been so many times that I have just given up on my skin in the winter because I feel like nothing works.  Lotions for some reason are not my friend in the cold months and my hands and feet look like a road map but with white dry, chapped lines.

Vegetables Are Your Friend!

  • Nov. 20th, 2008 at 8:07 PM

We have all heard those famous words; “Eat your Vegetables.”  As a child you may remember those words being such a pain.  Vegetables aren’t cool, they taste terrible and aren’t any fun.  This may be the words of the younger generation as you get them to eat their vegetables.

As an adult we may find it easier to eat our vegetables since we are mature enough to know and recognize that we need these particular nutrients to stay fit and healthy.

Of course if you are like me you may get sick of the same old plain cooked or raw vegetable.  There are plenty of recipes out there to help you get creative with your vegetables without them losing their nutritional values.

  • Oct. 24th, 2008 at 2:38 PM

So many times when I have been down in the dumps, I have heard “Cheer Up”.  Now this sometimes is easier said than done on several occasions, I guess it all depends on how bummed out you really are.

I have learned that life is way too short to be down in the dumps for long periods of time.  I have come up with some self-motivators that have actually helped me to cheer up so to speak or at least feel better.

Tips and Tricks for Oily Skin

  • Oct. 6th, 2008 at 2:22 PM

By the end of the day you’d think I could scrape enough oil off my face to start an engine.  It is so disgusting at times I wish I was stuck with the opposite problem of having dry skin which I know those with this particular skin type would beg to differ.  I have heard it said that those who have oily skin stay younger looking for much longer.  If this is the truth, I do not know but I am sure that time will tell.

I have learned my way around my oily skin, enough to control it a little better throughout the day.  Here is what I recommend:

What Road Does Your Sex Drive Take?

  • Sep. 25th, 2008 at 6:30 PM

I will say that realistically, this isn’t normally a topic I freely talk about but it is reality and almost everyone has to deal with it from time to time: sex drive. how do we maintain a healthy one?

First off, the misconception of this action is that it’s all based on moods.  For women this may be the number one truth but we have to learn not to go by our moods.

The first step in maintaining or getting a healthy sex drive is:

Pet Jitters

  • Sep. 18th, 2008 at 6:54 PM

I have two enormous dogs but I have learned to not be fooled by their sizes.  My Siberian Husky has a nervous disorder and we are not quite sure where it came from since this started happening back in 2003.  The only thing we can think of is when we started having kids it caused her nerves to go haywire.  Don’t get me wrong she’s a great dog and great with kids but I think she felt replaced.

Welcome to Core Rhythms: You Gotta Try This

  • Sep. 12th, 2008 at 4:16 PM

Who loves to exercise? I do but it has to offer successful results and be fun at the same time. I thought I found my dream workout when I found Billy Blank’s famous workout, Taibo. This is a fun kickboxing and boxing workout which is excellent for stress. Then I found another workout called The Firm. This workout involves a stair climber (Fanny Lifter) and light weights. I saw results with this workout but it wasn’t enjoyable anymore. I found myself alternating between both Taibo and The Firm just to mix it up and so I wouldn’t get bored.

Please check out a blog post one of my buzz blogging peers recently posted.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I have a public health background and have worked with some truly amazing volunteers during my career in non-profit. I worked for the American Cancer Society and helped plan a large-scale fundraising walk in the fight against breast cancer. The life of fundraiser and events planner is both chaotic and stressful. However, those long hours were well worth it because I had the privilege of working with fabulous volunteers.

How Laughter Bettered My Health

  • Aug. 11th, 2008 at 10:24 AM

Many of us may have heard the verse; “A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like A Medicine.”  This is very much the truth.  There have been many times when feeling down I would get a chance to laugh and all those feelings would just dissolve even if it was for a brief moment.  I know that laughter has brought down my blood pressure on several occasions.
